FOR years, the massive roundabout in Bandar Meru Raya fronting the Casuarina@Meru hotel had been an object of public speculation.

Sealed all around with dark blue zinc boards, motorists would pass by wondering what was going on in there.

The “mystery” was revealed last month in time for the long school holidays.

It is a large recreational park complete with water fountains, a children’s playground, water spray parks and an amphitheatre.

Many families and youths have already made this new recreational park their new hangout.

Taiping Zoo (Malay: Zoo Taiping) is a zoological park located at Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. Established in 1961, Taiping Zoo is the oldest Zoo in Malaysia. It is one of the major zoological parks in Malaysia. It covers 34 acres (14 ha) and exhibits 1300 animals representing 180 species of amphibians, mammals, and reptiles. It also has a night safari. Gunung Lang Recreational Park

Gunung Lang Recreational Park which is located only five kilometers from Ipoh town is one of the many limestone mountains in the state of Perak, Malaysia, particularly in Lembah Kinta. Gunung Lang is a stretch of limestone areas in the centre of Lembah Kinta and it is a recreational area in the north of Ipoh City. It can be accessed via the North South Expressway through the Sungai Siput and Jalan Kuala Kangsar exit.This limestone area was explored way back in 1880 by a Malay tin miner, whereby the mining activities were carried out in the caves here. This area was also turned into an iron ore mining area which developed a disrupted landscape area such as the swampy areas and lakes. The Ipoh Local Plan Study 2020 outlined the 111.93 hectares Gunung Lang Area as the Stage 2 Environmentally Sensitive Area and needs to be conserved.
