Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve



Kuala Sepetang (Kuala means “estuary”, in Malay) is a small fishing village located off the Taiping, Perak state coast, and the gateway to the largest unbroken expanse of mangrove swamp forest remaining in Peninsular Malaysia – The Matang mangrove forest (40,537 ha), a truly fascinating place to observe a natural wetland ecosystem at work. Recently, I spent some time there, which included staying at one of the government built chalets. The Forestry Department has established a (well run) eco-educational centre at the Kuala Sepetang site. If you are in the vicinity of Taiping town, the Kuala Sepetang Wetlands is a must visit.

Dr SEENIVASAGAM Park (Taman DR) was formerly known as Coronation Park. It is curently the oldest recreational park in Ipoh. There is also having a mini Japanese garden in here. This garden is known as “Japanese Mini Garden” after an accord was signed between Ipoh and Fukuoka on 21 March 1989. The Japanese Garden is decorated with various rock lanterns and rock water pitchers with bamboo trees planted at the park entrance. Zoo Taiping & Night Safari

Taiping Zoo (Malay: Zoo Taiping) is a zoological park located at Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. Established in 1961, Taiping Zoo is the oldest Zoo in Malaysia. It is one of the major zoological parks in Malaysia. It covers 34 acres (14 ha) and exhibits 1300 animals representing 180 species of amphibians, mammals, and reptiles. It also has a night safari. As the only zoo in North Malaysia, it tends to receive a large amount of visitors. It houses the largest number of stump-tailed macaques in Malaysia, which is thirteen, compared to six at the National Zoo of Malaysia (Zoo Negara) and five at the Malacca Zoo. Gunung Lang Recreational Park

Gunung Lang Recreational Park which is located only five kilometers from Ipoh town is one of the many limestone mountains in the state of Perak, Malaysia, particularly in Lembah Kinta. Gunung Lang is a stretch of limestone areas in the centre of Lembah Kinta and it is a recreational area in the north of Ipoh City. It can be accessed via the North South Expressway through the Sungai Siput and Jalan Kuala Kangsar exit.This limestone area was explored way back in 1880 by a Malay tin miner, whereby the mining activities were carried out in the caves here. This area was also turned into an iron ore mining area which developed a disrupted landscape area such as the swampy areas and lakes. The Ipoh Local Plan Study 2020 outlined the 111.93 hectares Gunung Lang Area as the Stage 2 Environmentally Sensitive Area and needs to be conserved.
